I'm Julie, and I live with my husband and three young daughters in New South Wales suburbia, Australia. This is the online journal I kept until recently, of how we are trying to live more simply & sustainably in suburbia.

This blog is on indefinite hiatus but please feel free to look around my archives for some inspiration in your own journey to living more lightly and sustainably.

Some light reading :-)

I recently won these books on eBay and received them in the mail today! They are Backyard Self-Sufficiency by Jackie French,

and The Complete Tightwad Gazette by Amy Dacyczyn, who is also known as the Frugal Zealot.

The first book discusses homegrown fruit and veg with lots of recipes, and the second is a "compendium of tightwad tips for frugal living"! I'm very much looking forward to having a read through this weekend.

Oh! The Tightwad Gazette has lots of little nuggets of good tips...some may be too extreme for others...but most people seem to love the book or are old newsletter subscribers. My sister has constantly checked out a copy from the library, so I think I know what she might like for Christmas ;)

A few months ago I found a recent interview with Amy Dacyczyn here:

thesimpledollar is a pretty handy blog to check on now and then.
