I'm Julie, and I live with my husband and three young daughters in New South Wales suburbia, Australia. This is the online journal I kept until recently, of how we are trying to live more simply & sustainably in suburbia.

This blog is on indefinite hiatus but please feel free to look around my archives for some inspiration in your own journey to living more lightly and sustainably.

The Seven Things Project

One of the blogs I have been reading periodically is The Seven Things Project. It follows Earthchick, from Michigan the US, in her year long decluttering project, where she aims to get rid of seven things from her life each week. Each Saturday she lists those things on her blog.

This past week I have been feeling progressively worse as each day goes by - I feel like I'm slowly drowning in stuff! What I think is most interesting about that feeling is that what I now consider stuff, is so radically different from my definition of stuff, less than a year ago.

Things I considered useful, essential even, a year ago, now no longer seem to be earning their place in my life, let alone my family's life.

The biggest change has been my recognition that stuff is not necessarily physical in nature. Mind clutter works the same way as physical objects do!

So I am taking a week "off" to "detox" and declutter, lol. And to join the Seven Things webring.
