I'm Julie, and I live with my husband and three young daughters in New South Wales suburbia, Australia. This is the online journal I kept until recently, of how we are trying to live more simply & sustainably in suburbia.

This blog is on indefinite hiatus but please feel free to look around my archives for some inspiration in your own journey to living more lightly and sustainably.

My "15 minutes of fame".

I have deliberated about not mentioning this but I guess I will, LOL. I was interviewed by a journalist from Time Magazine a few weeks ago for an upcoming article! I am one of six people in the article on "Green Living" apparently, and since I haven't seen it yet, I am hoping that I haven't said anything too stupid or inane, LOL. It is also featuring a photo of myself and Miss 3 apparently - oh dear!

Anyway, I am being sent a copy in the mail today so I gather it must be in next weeks Asian-Pacific version of Time Magazine (I think it would be dated 18 June as it tends to be dated a week in advance)? My saving grace is that not many people I associate with in real life read Time Magazine so I'm hoping to get away with not being noticed by too many people ;-)

Anyway, my family and I are off on a short holiday for a few days so I won't be checking in until late next week - if anyone has dropped in via the article, then a big hello to you! Feel free to leave a comment - I love hearing from other Aussies trying to lead the same sort of life :-)

Good on you. There have been journos trying to make contact with Compacters in both Sydney and Melbourne and I know that the only way for the low-consumption idea to spread is for us to talk about what we are doing- to make it public.
So far none of the other bloggers I know have followed up on the inquiries (me included), I guess because I am shy about revealing those areas I fail in.

You've made me feel such a wimp! But good on you for doing it!

that's excellent, julie! It's good to get this important message out and show others how ordinary people are dealing with it.

We are contacted fairly frequently on ALS by journalists looking for contacts. I know who I'll be promoting next time. ; )
