Pasta and Pizza

I'm really excited, I just got hold of a pasta machine for $14, woo hoo! Making my own pasta is something I've wanted to try for a while, but struggle with the kneading and rolling (I have carpal tunnel in one wrist, the other was recently operated on), so I'm pretty keen to have ago this weekend :-) It looks like something the kids can help with too, so it could be a family affair.

And for Lisa, here is my basic pizza dough recipe for my breadmaker:

Breadmaker Pizza Dough
200ml lukewarm water
1 tbs olive oil
1 tsp salt
375g/ 2.5 cups bread flour
1 3/4 tsp dried yeast

* Add all ingredients in the order above to the bread pan, wipe the outside and place in the breadmaker.
* Select the "dough" setting, and press start. (It takes about 1.5 hours to knead and rest in my machine).
* When the cycle has finished, remove dough and roll out on a lightly floured surface - one thick round or two smaller rounds for thin base pizzas. Place on a lightly greased tray and add toppings as desired.
* Bake @ 200'C for 12-15 minutes or until base is cooked and toppings heated through. Buon appetit!

Thank you so much for posting your dough recipe _ I too am guilty of buying plastic packaged ones - but now I have no excuse not to do this!
The pasta machine sounds fab and I look forward to reading how your pasta turns out. My new boss is italain and we were only discussing homemade pasta tonight. I was syaing how one day I want to try making some. Also asked about freezing it, he said there is normally not too much left, but they do freeze the leftovers!
Hope this helps.
Take care of you :)

I'm glad your pizzas turned out so well Robin :-)

Eilleen, no we've all been sick, so cooking was the last thing we wanted to do, LOL. Hopefully once we all recover, pasta-making will be a great shcool holidays project!

I feel inspired to make my own bread and pizza dough and was wondering, what bread maker do you have? Do you recommend it? I have no idea where to start in looking for one, and don't want to end up with something crappy...
