I'm Julie, and I live with my husband and three young daughters in New South Wales suburbia, Australia. This is the online journal I kept until recently, of how we are trying to live more simply & sustainably in suburbia.

This blog is on indefinite hiatus but please feel free to look around my archives for some inspiration in your own journey to living more lightly and sustainably.

What the World Eats

This is a really interesting photo essay online at Time magazine - photos of 15 families around the world and their weekly food supplies. See if you can spot the fruit and veg in the Western family pics! I know which pics look more appetising to me... and it isn't the ones full of brightly coloured boxes and plastic packets.

It is so interesting to see how much porcessed food some people eat and also how many people some families feed...

Hi Liz! It is really interesting isn't it? The US photo was probably much like our shopping was a couple of years ago, yuk.
