I'm Julie, and I live with my husband and three young daughters in New South Wales suburbia, Australia. This is the online journal I kept until recently, of how we are trying to live more simply & sustainably in suburbia.

This blog is on indefinite hiatus but please feel free to look around my archives for some inspiration in your own journey to living more lightly and sustainably.

How the time flies!

My littlest "baby" turns two today! Where did that time go? It only seems like yesterday that she was tiny baby (well, at 8pd 12oz, she wasn't quite as tiny as some - although she wasn't my biggest bub), although I have to say that I am NOT missing those endless feeds in the middle of the night and I am on the countdown to my last ever nappy change :-) Boy, what a great day that will be, LOL.

Her birthday also marks the approximate one year anniversary of our decision to live our lives more simple and more sustainably. What a journey it has been; my primary incentive was to lessen our impact on the environment in order to conserve it for our childrens' future, but I could never have imagined when we started how rewarding it would be for us as a family to lighten our footsteps.

We have a long way to go before we can achieve a level of resource use that is truly sustainable but we've come such a long way - both physically and mentally - in the past year. I am especially glad that I started blogging about our journey, because it has put me in touch with so many like-minded people that I would never have come across in my day-to-day life, people that I am continually inspired and encouraged by - thank you!

I wanted to do a wrap up of how far we've come in the last year, but once again life has other plans for me that don't include the computer and it's already been two days since I started this post, so that will have to be for another time, hopefully in the next couple of days now that DH has gone back to work after 10 days off and life is settling back into a normal routine. Until then, cheers!

Happy birthday to your little one and congratulations on your twelve months of living more simply and sustainably. I don't know about you but I'm finding it really gives my life more meaning and purpose even when I'm doing the most menial tasks.
