Doing: Emailing
CHOICE magazine to compliment them on their terrific work. I've mentioned a couple of time before that I've always found their testing of appliances and general articles to be a great source of consumer information, and now that they have started including articles and information regarding "green" issues as well, I find it even better value for money. I have just received the latest issue today, and the very first article (under the new "Sustainable Living" heading), is titled "
The more we shop, the more we pollute", and gives a link to the Australian Conservation Foundation's
consumption atlas at the end. Great stuff! I think oftentimes, people only contact companies or organisations when they
aren't happy with a product or service, so I am going to email them shortly with
positive feedback and tell them how impressed I am with these sorts of articles.
In the Garden: Spraying the mignonette lettuce with
molasses spray, to hopefully deter the caterpillars currently feasting on them.
Picking: Zucchini and cherry tomatoes.
Dinner: Sausage and bean casserole with rice and steamed vegetables.
Greening up our Christmas: No disposable paper serviettes this year, we're using cloth napkins. They look much more special as well as being more environmentally friendly :-)
Reading: CHOICE magazine, Jan/Feb 2008 issue.

Good on you! A pat on the back to those who deserve it is always lovely for both the giver and receiver.
Thanks for the molasses spray recipe link, I'll give that a try this arvo (home renovations allowing me out of the house LOL).
A couple of years ago we found a set of 6 linen doilies hand embroidered with red robins, mistletoe and berries at a Salvos for the princely sum of $2.
There is a treasure trove of beautiful needle work for a pittance in op shops.
Hi Jayne, hope the molasses spray works for you :-) And yes, aren't thrift shops a wealth of lucky finds on occasion? I've stopped being amazed at what people give away, instead I am grateful that they do! I like the idea that these things are finding homes where they are appreciated and used, rather than sitting in the back of someone's cupboard. Cheers, Julie
I think that's great that you're acknowledging great service :)
I mean "great work/articles", lol
