Sunday afternoon. It now looks like this:It's a bit bare now isn't it?! Ah well, it's for a good cause. The 5 foot high Murrayas (the six that were left anyway, after I did some "pruning" a couple of months ago) were dug out and transported to my in-laws yesterday morning, to add to their garden. The coloured shrubs that remain are Crotons that were planted in between the Murrayas. I decided to leave them because the area is so bare now, and I rather like their colours, not that they show up all that well in the photos.
Then DH finally got around to concreting in the brick edging along the garden bed (that only took four years - we don't like to rush things around here ;-) and I dug in lots of compost and old cow manure. Then finally, I planted out seven dwarf coffee bushes, and topped it all off with the bark mulch DH had initially removed before digging out the Murrayas.
Looks good I think :-) Now I just need to wait another three years (!) before they grow up to a decent height (they will get to about 2 metres or 6 feet at maturity) to cover the fence and they start producing berries to harvest. Yum, home roasted coffee beans :-)

They look great! And they will be halfway up the fence before you know it!
Hi Crazy Mumma,
Its always great to see your productive but pretty design skills.
In 5 years time people are going to walk into your yard and wonder where all the food comes from because its going to be just beautiful.
Kind Regards
Belinda
Oh they are so cute! I can almost smell the roasting beans.
Hi ladies, thanks! I'd better pop out now and give them another dose of seaweed solution I think, just to make sure they start growing nicely for me :-)
The coffee plants look great. I would like to try them here but I think the frosts might be too much. I'm glad you had a good time at the Nundle festival. The town really changes over this weekend.
