I'm Julie, and I live Australian suburbia. This blog is the online journal I kept to record my family's journey towards living more simply & sustainably.

This blog is on indefinite hiatus but feel free to look around my archives for some inspiration in your own journey to living more lightly and sustainably. Please note that Blogger has 'eaten' some of my older photos which I am unable to retrieve at the moment.

I am now blogging at Our Simple Days, if you would like to stop by.

*Really* Fresh Fruit.

Just allow me to say how incredibly cool it is...

... in the middle of winter...

... to walk out into your own backyard ...

... and pick one of these to eat.

Where did you get that?! I want one! (I'd best wait til next year though, the rate I'm spending on fruit trees & seeds!)

Ok...I am so jealous! First of all, because in the middle of winter here in Idaho, USA, we can't grow squat outdoors. And secondly, because here in Idaho, USA we can't grow star fruit!!!!

Enjoy your juicy fruit!!

Hey Julie - I sent you an email, you might want to check your junk mail in case it's gone in there.

Is that a star fruit? I have never eaten one of them. What does it taste like?

It looks very luscious. Simple living can be very luxurious.

Hi ladies :-)

Kez, I got two from Daley's (of course), but only one is doing OK - it is in a quite protected spot next to black paving (which would reflect heat back at night). The other is in the middle of the yard and looks very dodgy - too cold for it. Got your email - will reply shortly!

Kate, Yes it's a Starfruit. It tastes kind of citrus-y, but a bit tart, like a lime is? Nice.

Cheers, Julie

Oh you are making my mouth water with those delicious carambola! Fresh from the tree they are one of my favourite fruits! A thousand times better than the ones you get from the 'stupidmarket' (love your terminology there too!). We are super keen to get a carambola in our place, Daleys has been out of stock for a while, and we're looking forward to getting one in spring. It's one of the last of our fruit trees we need to get (we've out in over 100 fruit trees, shrubs and vines on our 900 square metret suburban block over the last 10 months - crazy!)

Glad to see your starfruit is going well - enjoy their yummy fruits!! :-)

Hey Ally, thanks! I don't know where you are going to put your carambola when you get it - your place seems packed already, LOL. But they *are* good ;-)

Cheers, Julie
