I'm Julie, and I live with my husband and three young daughters in New South Wales suburbia, Australia. This is the online journal I kept until recently, of how we are trying to live more simply & sustainably in suburbia.

This blog is on indefinite hiatus but please feel free to look around my archives for some inspiration in your own journey to living more lightly and sustainably.

An Award, a Meme and a Prize

Firstly, lovely Emma from Indian Earth has bestowed upon me the "Brillante Weblog Premio" award - thanks Emma! I know I'm not usually talking to myself here, but it always give me a thrill when I get feedback from readers who are actually taking in what I'm saying and potentially using it as motivation in their own lives :-)

Secondly, Going (a little bit) Feral, has tagged me for the 6 Random Things Meme. I've done this Meme before (actually, the first two times it was seven and now it's six - it's shrinking!), but hey, I like GF so I'll do it again ;-)

6 More Random Things About Me:

1. I am a rabid book-lover and have never, ever marked a page in a book by turning down the top corner. Sacrilege!

2. I hate white bread with a passion. Might as well eat a slice of foam because the taste and texture is about the same.

3. I have watched Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog mini-movie so many times I now know the words almost by heart.

4. I only wear make up to weddings, and only then, under duress. It makes me feel like I'm suffocating, and every brand of hypo-allergenic mascara I have ever tried makes my eyes water.

5. I started my undergraduate university degree wanting to be a forensic scientist, but ended up in environmental studies. (I might point out that this was a dozen years or more before CSI and it's umpteen variations were on TV).

6. I knew the arrival date, length of labour, gender and birth weight of my first born child five months before she was born, because I had a dream about it. In fact, I handed in my post-graduate thesis on her due date because I knew she wouldn't arrive until 7 days later ;-)

OK, thirdly, I was the extremely lucky winner of Tracy's DVD giveaway (An Inconvenient Truth), which arrived in the mail yesterday. Yay! I have big plans for this movie, thanks Tracy!

I agree with you about white bread. The only white bread I will eat is the 18-hour bread I make myself.

Hi Shay,
Thanks for stopping by :-) And yep, homemade white bread is OK, especially if it is French bread!

Cheers, Julie

Oh I wish I hated white bread! It's one of my weekly dilemmas when I go to the bakery - i KNOW i'll enjoy the sourdough or rye or multigrain so much more overall, but I love avocado spread over toasted white bread so much that 4 times out of 5 I choose the white *sigh*
