I'm Julie, and I live with my husband and three young daughters in New South Wales suburbia, Australia. This is the online journal I kept until recently, of how we are trying to live more simply & sustainably in suburbia.
This blog is on indefinite hiatus but please feel free to look around my archives for some inspiration in your own journey to living more lightly and sustainably.

Note to self for future reference:
:: Just as turmeric will stain the front of your favourite white T-shirt when you are silly enough to cook a curry when wearing it, so too it will stain your dehydrator trays:

LOL, think of them as badges of honour..just noticed you added me to your blog roll, thanks!
Wow, that is so cool!
I tried commenting yesterday but my internet connection kept dropping out - when I visited PNG we ate a lot of purple sweet potato and I think it was even yummier than orange sweet potato. We also ate yellow watermelon but it tasted just like the pink ones. :)
I have to admit that the colour leekage of turmeric is pretty impressive.
I came to my senses and gave up white tops years ago... wearing one definitely requires more care than I am willing to expend in that direction.
Kind Regards
Belinda
Ha Ha! I was going to write a post on turmeric stains too! Baking soda is fab on surfaces, it takes a bit of scrubbing, but it works. I'm not sure about how it works for plastic though...
Oops I posted the comment under my husbands name....

Hi Kel,
LOL! Sorry for not adding you to my blogroll sooner :-)
Hi Cat,
Oh yum, thanks for that. They look strange but I'll be super impressed if they taste better than the usual orange ones!
Hi Belinda,
Um yes, I should really know better by now (after 3 kids especially), but I do like the concept of a plain white T. Sigh...
Hi Cyril/ Emma! Thanks, the bicarb took off some of the stains, but not all. Oh well :-)
Cheers, Julie
