I'm Julie, and I live Australian suburbia. This blog is the online journal I kept to record my family's journey towards living more simply & sustainably.

This blog is on indefinite hiatus but feel free to look around my archives for some inspiration in your own journey to living more lightly and sustainably. Please note that Blogger has 'eaten' some of my older photos which I am unable to retrieve at the moment.

I am now blogging at Our Simple Days, if you would like to stop by.

Simple Days #13

Doing: Wading through the day in a sleep-deprived haze courtesy of Miss 3... And as a result, drinking waaaaay too much (Australian) coffee.

Making: Sun-dried tomatoes in the solar oven. It was 32'C here today, what happened to Spring?

In the Garden: ...Checking up on and feeding the compost worms. Yep, all doing well ;-)

Time to "harvest" some castings soon to spread around the vegie garden. How cool that these little worms can turn waste into the best, totally organic fertiliser your vegies can get.

...Eating the first two big, fat, juicy asparagus spears of the season, crunching away on them raw straight after picking them. So sweet! Plenty more coming along where they came from, yum.

Dinner: Home made pizza, featuring sun-dried tomatoes.

Contemplating: Miss Four's upcoming birthday party: where, when, who and how to do it without generating too much waste or eating too much junk. I'm thinking the local park, but I need a wet weather back-up (and my house is too small).

You read my mind. A jar of local sun dried tomatoes is $7.00 here and we go through them like mad. As I tossed a couple into our basket this afternoon, my husband remarked, "you know, I bet you could MAKE these." I would have forgotten all about it if not for you! =) I can't wait to try this!

Hi
I have been enjoying your blog & I love the format of how you set it up. Infact soo much that I have stolen your format.

Hi Rachel,
Ah they say great minds think alike ;-) They taste better than the bought ones too.

Hi Leanne,
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, as they say ;-) Hey, you've gone to Blogger! It looks great.

Hi Libby,
Thank you :-) It pleases me no end to think that someone somewhere else might be planting some vegies or cooking something from scratch because of me.

Hi Rhonda,
Thank you :-) I'm thinking of taking it off though; seeing my own face freaks me out a bit every time I load the page ;-)

Cheers, Julie

Hi Julie...

I'm having trouble reading your blog over the last few days! You're making me feel lazy, disorganised and completely unproductive!!!

Where do you get your energy? (apart from the aussie coffee!) It must be the sun...

It's lovely to see you, I understand and appreciate anonymous bloggers but I personally find it easier to relate to someone if I can picture them in my mind. It makes me feel less like I've created a group of imaginary friends! :)

One day I will find the energy to aspire to be like you...

Hi Emma,
LOL, I don't blame you for feeling a bit disorganised at the moment with your impending move! You make *me* feel tired with all the things you have to do before you go. And yep, the weather is definitely part of my energy source at the moment; the Spring sun is so energising (unlike the gloom of winter and the dull heat of summer). Watch me slow down as the temperatures get hotter :-)

Cheers, Julie
