It's my turn to post at the Co-Op on Friday, and once again, I can't think of anything to write about! Compared to my personal ramblings here; I always have to rack my brain thinking of something relevant, topical and interesting. So I thought I'd ask you if you wouldn't mind leaving me a comment with any suggestions you might have so that I can make list for future posts too.
Thanks guys!

have you done one on ways to replace refined sugar?
what about 'green directories'- what are they, do you use them, why use them etc...
How about things that haven't worked for you? For example, what about ideas or processes you thought sounded good at the time, but in practice, found it difficult to adhere to.
What are the compromises you've had to make with consumerism and living simply?
I find all that stuff interesting to read about, because as a stay at home mum raising a growing girl and having a husband with irregular working hours, a lot of simple plans go out the window.
I often have to re-work stratagies to fit to our situation, but there's other stuff I simply can't re-work and I resort to consumerism instead.
What's wrong with your 'personal ramblings', I ask? Sometimes its the simple, practical things that are the most help. Not everything has to be profound!
I love your recipes. They suit my taste, cooking skills and I'm pretty sure the family has liked everything I've made from your site so far, which is saying something.
How about a post on quick, simple, healthy snack ideas with lots of links to recipes all in one place. You know when the cupboards are bare, the kids are peckish and you don't want to go to the store.
P.S. to last comment, of course there would be ingredients in those bare cupboards....
Hi Julie, Earlier this month you did a brilliant little post on "Mapping your local area". I used to teach geography but it never occurred to me to use Google Maps in the manner you suggested. We read a lot about 100 mile eating, but it's hard to begin to put it into practice without a concept of that 100 miles. Expanding that post would work for readers anywhere, particularly if you included the why on eating locally.. Cheers, Rose
Hi Julie
Similar to what someone else has said but I really enjoyed your walk down memory lane blog you did a while back. Looking at everything you have achieved. What really appeals to me about your blog is that you are a ordinary everyday person living in suburia and you are achieving all of these things. Perhaps talking about some of things that you started doing early on that some of us who are a bit hesistant about taking the leap can look at incorporating into our lives. I also love your recipes as well, perhaps your ideas on meal planning and how you take advantage of all your home grown produce. Hope this helps its a bit of a ramble.
Cheers
Aly
Maybe you could do a post on the awkward problems of gift giving and how to nicely discuss your desires for gifts for your children to adhere to your own ethics. Tricky.
Some great ideas here, I like the what didn't really work out for you, and also one about quick, easy meals for those nights when you are tired or unwell, need to feed the family but really don't want to resort to take-aways.
I find I get more out of the posts that talk about peoples own personal journeys, what works for them, how they make things fit into their own lives etc.
cheers Kate
Hi Julie. Guess what, I have the same problem. This week I chose to do a bit of a rant, lots read it but not too many commented. Maybe they just didn't like the truths that I had to tell them.
Gav
Good Morning Julie,
I would love to read an article on how to make my area a better place to live apart from money, government or even charitable programs. Little ideas such as picking up the local trash on a regular basis, mending clothes for those in retirement homes, making a dinner for a friend who could use a hand, or even planting a few flowers in a weedy ditch. So very few people are interested in such small ignoble tasks, but I really feel that they make for great living.
Looking forward to your ideas,
Elizabeth
Hi Julie,
What about
solar cooking?
favourite enviro or frugal
research tools?
Kind Regards
Belinda
Aewsome!! Thanks for all your suggestions guys, it's much appreciated :-)
@ Gavin - I also seem to post stuff I think will be liked/is topical but then it doesn't generate any comments, so who knows! That makes me worry about what to post next time then... Hmm.
Cheers, Julie
from experience, as a reader and writer, no comments is not indicator of interestingness, merely a reflection on capacity to contribute to or further a point or the discussion. I often read posts and dont comment, sometimes coz im busy or im so overwhlemed with thinking about the things written i cant organise my thougts- lazy! lol
Hi Julie,
I also like the one about things that haven't worked for you and how you got around them.
The solar oven one sounds good too. It might have something to do with owning a solar oven and not knowing how to use it.
Dear Julie and Gavin,
Don't get dishearted if no one comments 'cause they are probably like me a silent lurker! I frequently read both of your sites, love how they make me feel part of changing the world for the better. I'm often home alone and get a lot from you both, it's great that you come from the subs.
Julie / Gavin - don't worry about not getting many replies. Sometimes you've inspired us so much we just rush off to try it!!! I read alot of blogs but struggle to always leave a comment. I am often in a rush, fitting in a quick read between jobs or otherwise don't feel I have anything worthwhile to add.
Julie how about posting about what you find difficult and how you overcome it. Many people have joined this journey recently and I'd hate people to give up because they fel they are the only ones struggling (sometimes blog land can seem extremely perfect and the things unobtainable when everything around you is failing) it would be nice to offer those ome comfort.
Otherwise anything mentioned above would be great. Thanks
Maxine
