Dandelion leaf chicory is a very pretty cut-and-come-again addition to the mesclun salad leaf garden, and a change from the larger hearting-style chicory.
I started this challenge on January 5 - it is my aim to harvest at least one thing from my garden every day this year - and photograph it. If I can manage to pick 360 different varieties, then so much the better! This is 45/360.
Cheers,

Ah the challenges one faces when trying to stick to your morals, be all natural and still have clean wooden bowls! Haha. Thanks for all the information. I just use a dab of olive oil for my wood surfaces, but it is hard to know which to use without going to far over the budget. xo m.
Ooops.... DId I post that comment in the wrong section. Sorry- I also just wanted to say that i have been thoroughly enjoying your daily photos from the garden. They are beautiful, look delicious and very inspirational. Keep it up! xo m.
Hi Meagan,
Thanks :-) And yep, I'm going to continue to use olive oil on my boards as I use them every day.
Cheers, Julie
We are Sydney residents who try to live as sustainably as possible and we grow many of our own vegetables. We have a plant that looks like your red dandelion but it has a blue/purple flower like a cornflower. What colour is the flower on your red dandelion?
I take a photo of it ad send it to you if that is OK?
A good site thanks.
Margaret
Hello Margaret,
This plant is a variety of Chicory and is so named because the leaves resemble dandelions, not because it is a dandelion. As such, it does have purple flowers.
Cheers,
Julie
