I'm Julie, and I live with my husband and three young daughters in New South Wales suburbia, Australia. This is the online journal I kept until recently, of how we are trying to live more simply & sustainably in suburbia.

This blog is on indefinite hiatus but please feel free to look around my archives for some inspiration in your own journey to living more lightly and sustainably.

Waltham's Butternut Pumpkin

A Photo A Day Challenge: Photo #44

I would normally wait until much later in the season to pick the pumpkins - the stalk should be brown and the vine should have died back - but the recent weather has made them split and I've had to bring them in before they rot. No good for storing of course, so I'll roast the excess and freeze it for soups in winter.

I started this challenge on January 5 - it is my aim to harvest at least one thing from my garden every day this year - and photograph it. If I can manage to pick 360 different varieties, then so much the better! This is 44/360.

Cheers,
