I'm Julie, and I live with my husband and three young daughters in New South Wales suburbia, Australia. This is the online journal I kept until recently, of how we are trying to live more simply & sustainably in suburbia.

This blog is on indefinite hiatus but please feel free to look around my archives for some inspiration in your own journey to living more lightly and sustainably.

Welsh Bunching Spring Onions

A Photo A Day Challenge: Photo #38

Like my regular onions, the spring onions aren't forming nice little bulbs this year - no matter, we usually eat them young, like shallots/green onions, anyway.

I started this challenge on January 5 - it is my aim to harvest at least one thing from my garden every day this year - and photograph it. If I can manage to pick 360 different varieties, then so much the better! This is 38/360.

Cheers,

But wont it taste so good, fresh from the garden to the salad to the mouth and tastebuds!

Oh these are great! I grew them for the first time and they're doing so much better than "normal" spring onions. We only eat the green part, so we just cut them like chives and leave them to continue growing. They're starting to "bunch" now too.
