I'm Julie, and I live with my husband and three young daughters in New South Wales suburbia, Australia. This is the online journal I kept until recently, of how we are trying to live more simply & sustainably in suburbia.

This blog is on indefinite hiatus but please feel free to look around my archives for some inspiration in your own journey to living more lightly and sustainably.

Comfrey

A Photo A Day Challenge: Photo #71

Super-useful garden herb, both medicinally and in permaculture systems as an awesome soil conditioner, compost activator & mulch.

I started this challenge on January 5 - it is my aim to harvest at least one thing from my garden every day this year - and photograph it. If I can manage to pick 360 different varieties, then so much the better! This is 71/360.

Cheers,

Stunning...came across your site from a Google Alert for comfrey. I am besotted too with the impact of comfrey and have planted over 25 plants so far on my small farm. Using it to make a great fertiliser for food garden and of course in teas plus a nibble a day on a leaf.

Agree with many other comments that you and your family are an inspiration.
