I'm Julie, and I live with my husband and three young daughters in New South Wales suburbia, Australia. This is the online journal I kept until recently, of how we are trying to live more simply & sustainably in suburbia.
This blog is on indefinite hiatus but please feel free to look around my archives for some inspiration in your own journey to living more lightly and sustainably.
Golden Sage
A Photo A Day Challenge: Photo #57
I started this challenge on January 5 - it is my aim to harvest at least one thing from my garden every day this year - and photograph it. If I can manage to pick 360 different varieties, then so much the better! This is 57/360.Cheers,

I've seen this stuff around. Very pretty it is. But what does it taste like? Is it a *good* culinary sage? I've made do with wild sages to cook with on occasion, but it just wasn't the same. Sage is probably my most favorite fresh culinary herb, so I suppose I'm rather particular about that particular flavor...
Very pretty, I need to get some sage plants!
Hi Kate,
Nah, it isn't as good, it's just pretty ;-) it makes a nice garnish but not as good as the 'real' stuff in cooking. I've got purple sage too which looks pretty awesome when fried though.
Hi Aimee,
I love sage, so versatile in the kitchen. It's a 'must have' around here!
Cheers, Julie
