I'm Julie, and I live with my husband and three young daughters in New South Wales suburbia, Australia. This is the online journal I kept until recently, of how we are trying to live more simply & sustainably in suburbia.
This blog is on indefinite hiatus but please feel free to look around my archives for some inspiration in your own journey to living more lightly and sustainably.
Thirty :: Holidays ::
It's school holidays, and there are plenty of outdoor excursions planned to keep the peeps entertained. I preparation, I made them each a "treasure bag" from an old piece of nylon flywire (so that the dirt and sand mostly falls out on the ground before we get back home ;-) and some fabric scraps. The pattern is from
Soule Mama's
Handmade Home.

I have been quietly coming here for some time. Just want to tell you how helpful and encouraging your blog has been for me. I live in a very urban setting with a north facing balcony. Lettuce abounds at our house!
I really love this (especially the clever fabric choice). Do you think a not-very-good-sewer could tackle this?
Hello Kimberley,
Thank you, I love comments like yours, it makes me feel like all this time I spend blogging (although it isn't much right now) is worthwhile :-)
Hi Max,
Oh definitely! It's designed to be "rustic" looking, and since it is just fabric scraps and flyscreen, designed to hold dirty pine cones and sandy shells, how perfect does it need to be? LOL. Go for it!
Cheers,
Julie
