OK, so solar energy isn't really 'free' when you take into consideration the materials and energy expended in manufacturing the photovoltaic panels etc, but nevertheless, we are very excited to have had the opportunity to participate in a consortium which has enabled us to sign on the dotted line for a 1.5 kW grid-connected solar energy system, at a hugely discounted price! Due the high Aussie dollar at the moment amongst other factors, getting in just before the latest price rise this month and the consortium discount, we have saved about 50% on what it would cost to buy the same system today - gotta be happy with that. We're not sure when installation will take place at this stage, but hopefully in the next month or two :-)
Cheers,

Agreed, not free but it certainly is exciting. Good Luck I hope everything goes smoothly with your installation.
Kind Regards

Hi Julie,
as I read your post I have two men clambering over our roof installing 11 solar panels. We decided to bump up our order to 2.5kw's. This is all going alongside our solar hot water panels so a lot of the roof is going to be hidden.
It's very exciting as I was very impressed with the solar hot water system this last summer. We didn't need the electric booster once, and that's in far south Tassie!

Hi Belinda,
Thanks :-)
Hi JOC,
Excellent! it's so good to know that even that far south, solar hw seems to work well. How exciting with the new pv system going in! I hope it all goes well for you :-)
Cheers,
Julie
