I'm Julie, and I live with my husband and three young daughters in New South Wales suburbia, Australia. This is the online journal I kept until recently, of how we are trying to live more simply & sustainably in suburbia.

This blog is on indefinite hiatus but please feel free to look around my archives for some inspiration in your own journey to living more lightly and sustainably.

Hello friends!

Firstly let me say a huge thank you for all the tips and well-wishes you left on my last post, you guys are awesome :-)

I'm back, and I missed you too.  I have so many  things - both good and bad - running around in my head right now that I don't even know where to begin which is why I have neglected to post for a while.  Truth be told, I have very much enjoyed the time away from posting; away from spending precious time mentally composing blog posts or reading blog posts, & taking and editing photos almost every day.

I've also been on a self-imposed media embargo since the Federal election was called (I just don't want to know about it; both major parties are, frankly, woeful when it comes to environmental & social policies), which has also resulted in more mental time to devote to thinking about where we are in our journey, and where we want to go from here.

Anyway, please indulge me for a little longer while I get myself sorted out ;-)  I do have some garden shots to share when I get around to loading them onto the blog (a painfully long process on my outdated pc), so I won't be completely abandoning you!

In the meantime, I'm afraid you'll just have the imagine to utterly delicious scent of the Jonquils in the mum's garden, above. Heavenly. Despite my frozen toes, apparently Spring is on the way!

Cheers for now,

Good to see you round.

Totally agreed on the media embargo, there are times I am totally grateful that I have to deliberately seek commercial media to come in contact with it. From the little I have seen it's almost embarrassing the way the two major parties have decided to run their campaigns let along the content of their policy.

Kind Regards
Belinda

Glad to hear you have been enjoying your time away from the computer and media Julie! I know how much hard work it is blogging, and we all need a well deserved rest at times, time to refocus and reassess. Thanks for sharing your photo of the Jonquils flower - it looks just magical, very professional!

Best wishes,

Ally

Welcome back!

Sorry to be antagonistic, but I have to query your avoidance of the election! I've had a few people making similar comments to me about the major parties, and so I am trying to spread the word that senate votes are important!

In NSW there appears to be a chance of the Greens- or another minor party- gaining a senate seat (and even more so in Victoria) so isn't your educated vote worth something?

Lovely jonquils, by the bye :)

Hello everyone,
Thank you, it's good to be back :-)

@ _vTg_, lol, I agree. I should have qualified my statement - I'm avoiding the media coverage but definitely still informing myself of the policies of the contenders in my electorate. I'd really love to see another Green in the senate!

Cheers,
Julie
