I'm Julie, and I live with my husband and three young daughters in New South Wales suburbia, Australia. This is the online journal I kept until recently, of how we are trying to live more simply & sustainably in suburbia.

This blog is on indefinite hiatus but please feel free to look around my archives for some inspiration in your own journey to living more lightly and sustainably.

Five!

I can hardly believe my "baby" is five already! Gosh, you really do need to savour every minute - good and bad - when they are growing up, don't you?

My "baby" is now chock-full of cake and good wishes, and is off to bed after a big day of activities.  Here she is watering in her newly-planted strawberries, part of gifts from our families which included the strawberries, a strawberry pot, gardening tools & gloves, a watering can and apron.  Roll on Spring!

Cheers,

Julie - It is late for my posting tonight too as we've just cleaned up after our Munchkins 5th birthday too!
Same date!

Hope yours was as fun as ours - isn't 5 a gorgeous age!

Hi Julie - I know what you mean!
My 4 yr old (the youngest) is turning 5 in just over a week. Problem is he says he Loves number 4 and insists on going on to be 14...
Happy B'day to your baby :-)

What a fantastic gift that will keep on giving longer than one day

Hi Kate,
Sigh...I imagine it will be even worse when she starts big school next year, and I won't get to see any of them for 6 hours a day!

Hi Cwm Goch,
Wow, how cool! Twins lol. Hope the Munchkin enjoyed your awesome robot cake! Too cute :-)

Hi Sonya,
Thanks mate - luckily it was family only this time. The next two will involve school friends and much more food and entertainment! I am thinking about a gardening party though for the eldest, where they can take home a potted plant?

Hi Emily,
Thank you!

Hi Meagan,
Thank you, she certainly slept well :-)

Hi nadeeka,
LOL, they way they grow up so quickly he probably will be 14 in the blink of an eye! Happy birthday to your 'baby' for next week!

Hi Maria,
I hope so, provided we can keep the snails, slugs and dogs (!) away from them - easier in a pot than in the ground though :-)

Cheers,
Julie
