I'm Julie, and I live Australian suburbia. This blog is the online journal I kept to record my family's journey towards living more simply & sustainably.

This blog is on indefinite hiatus but feel free to look around my archives for some inspiration in your own journey to living more lightly and sustainably. Please note that Blogger has 'eaten' some of my older photos which I am unable to retrieve at the moment.

I am now blogging at Our Simple Days, if you would like to stop by.

Rocket/ Arugula flowers

A Photo A Day Challenge: Photo #127

I started this challenge on January 5. It was my aim to harvest at least one thing from my garden every day this year - and photograph it. If I could have managed to pick 360 different varieties, then so much the better! This is photo #127 of what is now a possible 212 photos/varieties.

Cheers,

Beautiful!

I often let entire patches of arugula go to flower just the beauty of them. I find them a bit too hot to eat when they do, but it's worth the trade in my book.

Hi Gardenatrix & Bee,
Aren't they gorgeous? Big drifts of them must be quite stunning Gardenatrix!

Cheers,
Julie

I came upon your post while trying to figure out if my arugula flowers can be picked off to keep the plant growing leaves, or if flowering means the end of the plant. (Still don't know!) But I read your statement, and applaud your efforts. I just did some research recently on fruit trees because I'd like a few but our yard space is very limited. I read that dwarf stocks are not the solution to small spaces, pruning is. Several sites said that the best way to control tree size and still get good, plentiful fruit is by pruning normal trees. Just passing that along... Good luck with your mission!
