I'm sure it will grow up well if you don't but it might just be a little sturdier if you put it down a little. We were surprised when our transplants started to fruit just about a month after planting...but then fell over!! We're lucky enough to have 4 trees fruiting right now. If they come through it will be our first fruits from them. I can't wait!!!
